Today my sleep schedule is all messed up and I've got a headache, so here are some of my open tabs instead of new things:
Let's Encrypt short-lived and IP address certs – Wikimedia's public DNS service – multi-room audio by the Open Home Foundation – organizing your life in four digits – remote access to vintage Unices – Discord alternatives
- Let's Encrypt is offering short-lived (160 hours) certificates, also usable for IP addresses instead of domain names.
- Wikimedia provides public DNS via DoH and DoT.
- The Open Home Foundation (the Home Assistant and ESPHome folks) are working on a multi-room audio protocol titled Sendspin.
- Johnny.Decimal is a system of organizing your life by sorting it into a two-digit "area" and giving it a two-digit ID. I feel like I'd run out of numbers pretty soon, but I don't think I've understood the system fully just yet.
- The Interim Computer Museum, in cooperation with the SDF Public Access UNIX System, provides free remote guest access to historic operating systems and programming environments.
- Michael Taggart has rated some Discord alternatives, and selfh.st lists a couple more.
